Artist Biography

Arcadio Boyer

Arcadio Boyer Biography

Arcadio Boyer Ramirez Was born in 1945 in Máncora, Piura. His first years he lived in ‘ The Organos’ , a cove, 15 km to the N.E of White Cabo, well-known by its exuberant marine landscape. He started his first studies of drawing and painting in the Regional School of Fine Art “Ignacio Merino of Piura”. Later one moves to Lima where it enters the National School of “Bellas Artes” where, under the direction of the professor Alberto Davila ,reaches the degree in 1974 securing by its academic work the National Prize; “Enrique Brent Way” distinction corresponding to the second place of the graduate class. Its present reputation like one of best Peru painters, reflects the professional end of a very long way that begins in 1968 with its participation in “Muestra de Colombia”. Since then until today an extensive biography of successes fills its life.

Besides the exhibitions in Piura, Lima, Trujillo, Chimbote, etc. in the Territory its work in Chile, Bolivia, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, France, Spain, Germany, the United States, Puerto Rico, etc. Its work, Peruvian northern Earth fullness, is immersed in a neoindigenismo released of old woman primitive fastenings, near the local costumbrismo, where, with overwhelming tones and outstanding drawing skills, a particular intimate abstraction shows bodegones to us, gorgeous ocean escapes of unique memories and figures of special anatomy that is integrated, between cotton fields in a landscape that portrays his own perception of native artwork.

Arcadio Boyer at the moment is one of the most known painters of the North coast of Peru (Piura). For the artist the atmosphere, the customs and experiences are generally a permanent source for the accomplishment of his artworks. Boyer shapes with brush-strokes, spatula and a wide range rich in colors and texture, to express the way to see characters, landscapes, objects and situations on canvas, this in itself does not fall in the mere conventional painting, but in a contemporary own way that expresses its particular vision. Therefore it is an important contribution to the Peruvian present painting and its work has transferred the regional and national limits with the presence in many gallery exhibits in Lima and countries of America and Europe. His artwork is characterized by a singular descriptive style where the “costumbrismo” arises with different, particular forms, loaded of own experiences and memories of marine scenes, cotton fields or craftsmen. The famous faces of the Boyers anatomy distinguish them and with an absolute superiority in the mixture of colors, without a doubt a fascinating expression of the wealth of Latin American Art. Arcadio Boyer offers traditionally, a singular aspect of the subject that we could consider “indigenismo”, but freeing itself of certain connotations already disappearing of primitive character, incorporating to the work a particular descriptive intention, in which the matter is used well expressed, standing out the spirituality of man and objects. The Peruvian creators are conscious of their culture and history. They walk with decided step, they go forward, looking for new keys that allow them to solve innovators technical and conceptual enigmas. An important question is that they have adapted current techniques and schools to a personal vision to create. They have arrived at a mature stage, that agrees with the maturity, which plastic artists are reaching worldwide. The individual product of the cultural and racial fusion predominates. Art is not different from this baggage of changes. Arcadio Boyer is between the plastic creators of Peru, who have decided to create on a personal language, nonassigned to a determined trend, because it has known to polish influences, to delimit concepts, to structure a plastic positioning based on the idea of the abstraction, nourished of reference beings, essences and elements that do not finish taking shape. In fact its work is geometric, but also decided to confront the iconicity in different forms. The great ability of the recreated characters who are present like authentic protagonists of the work, and transformed with brutality into true and powerful titans owners of an invented landscape. References that can be transformed into illusions, partly of the fantasy that arises from the mind, in reformulations of the traditional forms that is expressed with the facility which the structures have to follow one another and themselves. To surpass the imposed limits, to find the own philosophical lucubration of the objective and the challenge proposed by Arcadio Boyer. Because the reality is not real, but it constitutes a physical-chemical song to the transformations where the essence of the imagination is the feeling, sensitivity, consciousness and creative effervescence that appears from the own idiosyncrasy of the existence.
